Short Selling

The Regulation (EU) No 236/2012 that came into force on 1 November 2012, on short selling and certain aspects of credit default swaps, introduces obligations on physical and legal persons to notify the Hellenic Capital Market Commission on the following:

• notification and disclosure of significant net short positions in shares,
• notification of significant net short positions in sovereign debt,
• notification of uncovered positions in sovereign credit default swaps in case that restrictions in transaction that lead to an uncovered position in a sovereign credit default swap have been lifted.
